Portion Size Your Plate

½ PLATE VEGETABLES
Fill half your plate with a colorful assortment of different vegetables.
¼ PLATE PROTEINS
Low-fat proteins are good for your heart and better for your waistline.
¼ PLATE STARCHES
Whole-grain starches are good for your heart and keep you feeling fuller longer.

1 serving of fruit

1 cup = A cupped hand

1 serving = 1/2 cup cereal, cooked pasta or rice or 1cup of raw, leafy green vegetables or 1/2 cup of cooked or raw, chopped vegetables or fruit.

Handful = 1-2 oz.

Snacking can add up. Remember, 1 handful equals 1 oz. of nuts and small candies. For chips and pretzels, 2 handfuls equals 1 oz.
