Moving further, faster…

Last time I wrote, I talked about wanting to find my limits. Last week I spent much of the week in CA in some amazing corporate strategy meetings. One evening I was chatting with one of my colleagues, and we got on this topic. For the first time in my life I’m actually anxious to see what exactly my body can do, and it’s now all in my head (for better or for worse). I’ve accomplished more in the past month than I generally do in a year.

Speaking of, I pressed the 20kg bell on Saturday. I hadn’t trained in almost a week, but just felt it was going to be my day. I started with a bit of Z mobility work just to get the past few days out of my system. Then cleaned the 20kg, but no dice. Hmmm…

Next step was to do some of the 9S yielding isometric work on my ligaments. I’ve been doing quite a bit of it since getting back, and have had some amazing results (in addition to my pressing skills). The ROM in my shoulders is CONSISTENTLY much improved. My squats are much more solid — my knees no longer feel like the weak link and the track really nicely when I squat and swing now. So, I did my yielding isos on the shoulders and knees.

Now, back to the 20kg KB. I cleaned it, and it just POPPED up. It felt so light that I actually had to check it to make sure I wasn’t pressing the 16. Nope, it was definitely the 20.  DC had talked about how ligament strength is often the limiting factor, and I’m finding time and time again that that is true in my body.

It’s all just so cool. Bring it on!
